Working within the CUO's office and reporting to the Head of Property and Allied Lines, the Portfolio Underwriter will be responsible for developing a new line of business known as the 'Special Situations' class. Underwriting at MS AUL is organised into the following departments: Property and Allied Lines, Casualty, Natural Resources, Crisis Management, Marine and Reinsurance. This might be for reasons of departmental appetite, resource stretch or perceived blockers to success (e.g. tolerances, departmental Cat limits, ability to purchase Reinsurance etc.) which can be more easily overcome from the CUO's office. Working in partnership within MS AUL and other entities to leverage relationships and identify new business opportunities, the class will target a cross cycle NCOR target of 95%. Potential focus areas could include, and are not limited to:

  • Cross class opportunities (c.f. Aon Client Treaty)
  • Insurance or Reinsurance (e.g. various broker facilities)

  • Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the class, identifying trends and making recommendations for adjustments to maintain profitability and compliance with MS AUL's risk appetite
