Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Positive Behaviour Support Specialist to join our PBS Services team. The role involves supporting the design and implementation of function-based interventions for individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. Working under the guidance of a PBS Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload, providing quality training, and coaching staff to effectively implement behavioural strategies.,
- Support holistic assessments of behaviours of concern to identify underlying functions.
- Monitor and implement function-based interventions focusing on proactive strategies, replacement behaviours, and skill-building.
- Assist in the development and implementation of reactive strategies where necessary.
- Ensure interventions are effectively monitored and adapted over time.
- Provide coaching and modelling to support staff in implementing PBS strategies.
- Deliver bespoke training sessions and develop staff skills in behaviour management.
- Support the implementation of appropriate communication systems for all individuals supported.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders, including families and social workers.
- Complete quality of life assessments to ensure individuals are engaged in meaningful activities.
- Promote Person-Centred Active Support and encourage its integration into service practices.
- Offer guidance on PBS planning and support service development. Policy and Service Development:
- Support services needing improvement, providing guidance and monitoring the implementation of improvement plans.
- Advise managers and special interest groups on PBS best practices. Continuing Professional Development:
- Participate in training and maintain up-to-date knowledge on developments in PBS and related fields. - Monday to Friday, 9.00AM - 5.00PM Occasional flexibility for weekends/evenings required
- Advanced PBS qualification - L3 or above
- PGCE/training qualification at L3 or above
- Active support coach

- PECS Essential Experience and Knowledge:
- Working with people with Autism and/or learning difficulties
- Working with complex needs
- Supporting people that display behaviours of concern
- Completing functional assessments
- Creating function based positive behaviour support plans
- Delivering specialist training
- Implementing environmental, skills building, and reinforcement-based strategies Desirable Experience and Knowledge:
- Designing bespoke training
