ROYAL COLLEGE APPROVED This post is designed for senior upper GI / bariatric trainees who are post CCT to prepare for a formal consultant appointment. The post holder will be operating at the level of a consultant but with mentoring and teaching by experienced upper GI / bariatric and emergency surgeons. Sub speciality training will be provided in;
- Bariatric Surgery
- Oesophageal Physiology
- Anti-reflux Surgery The successful candidate may also be required to support the on-call rota but fully supported by a second on-call consultant, who themselves will be in the hospital carrying out the elective duties, consistent with 7 day working. The successful candidate will take advantage of consultant operating lists for complex surgery in their sub specialist choice to further develop their skills. It is envisaged that the successful post holders will operate jointly on an all-day list once a week, as well as operating independently at least once a week. There will be ample opportunity to improve their experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, and there will be weekly exposure to outpatient clinics.Main duties of the job Post CCT Fellow for the Bariatric and Upper GI service within the division of GSACT at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. To provide clinical care for patients undergoing Bariatric and General Surgery at Ashford Hospital, St Peter's Hospital, community based services and other related activities to ensure a high standard of service and education. To contribute to the development, compliance and professional requirements and the Trust priorities and policies. To actively participate in the supervision and training of a multidisciplinary work force in the Surgery Department. To further develop specialist skills in bariatric surgery / anti-reflux surgery. To further develop pathways across bariatric and general surgery to improve efficiencies such as length of stay reductions.

£59,175 to £95,400 a year Plus 5% oncall. Salary dependant on experience + £149 HCAS p.a.
