Full Job Description

The Post Doctoral Researcher will conduct relevant research in relation to the Leathertrace Bangladesh Project, running within the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL). The research will focus on innovative approaches to waste management in the leather industry as well the development of an E-Traceability systems suitable for the Bangladesh Leather Industry context, in alignment with the Leathertrace Project. Interested candidates should note that prior contextual knowledge of the leather industry and/or Bangladeshi Leather Industry is not a compulsory requirement to apply.

Leathertrace is a funded project by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), as part of the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) programme and is being managed by the Centre for Sustainable Business Practices (CSBP) within the Faculty. The project aims to deploy digitalised traceability and environmental footprint calculation technologies in Bangladesh.

The Post Doctoral Researcher will be mainly (among other duties) responsible for collating, synthesising, and analysing relevant quantitative and qualitative research data related to the execution of the project and writing research articles aimed at communicating research findings to the academic and non-academic public.

Whilst remote working is available for this post the number of days per week will vary during each semester depending on the requirements of the post, this will be discussed in more detail at interview., 1. 2. Supporting Students and Staff: Strengthening mental health support, enhancing disability confidence, and ensuring academic and professional support.

3. Tackling Inequalities: Involving students in recruitment, integrating forums for equality data analysis, and supporting networks for protected characteristics.

The ideal candidate should:

Possess in-depth environmental and social sustainability knowledge.

Possess evidence of research dissemination such as peer review publication(s), book chapters and conference papers.

Have in-depth knowledge about data analysis experience using Excel and/or other data analysis software.

Proficient in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, and analysis.

Ability and commitment to working within a team environment and working with other researchers (academic and/or non-academic).

Be willing to travel internationally, due to the nature of the project.
