Full Job Description

  • Receive and sort all mail within the prison ensuring correct delivery to appropriate areas.
  • X-ray and search all mail for prohibited items to prevent their entry into the prison.
  • Deliver all post to the relevant departments to assist with the smooth operation of the prison to meet relevant standards.
  • Collect and deliver all newspapers and magazines to the units on a daily basis to ensure an efficient service to prisoners.
  • Sort and frank external post ensuring timely collection
  • Connect all callers to their contact or the contact most relevant to the general nature of their enquiry in a timely professional manner.
  • Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.

HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults.
