Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Semiconductors to work under the supervision of Professor Iain McCulloch for a period of up to 24 months. The successful candidate will join an inter-disciplinary team working on the design and synthesis of novel organic semiconducting polymers and small molecules for applications such as organic bio-electronics, photocatalysis and solar cells. This encompasses the materials science aspects of thin film fabrication and measurement of their performance. The aim is to investigate relationships between the chemical structure and properties of the materials and establish design strategies tailored for each application.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience and understanding of the design, synthesis and characterisation of organic semiconducting and experience in organic bioelectronics, organic solar cells, or solar fuels.
You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines, as well interaction with characterisation and measurement collaborators.
