Full Job Description
We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work on the synthesis of new inorganic solid electrolyte materials. You will work on materials inspired by our recent publication (Science 2024) on new routes to superionic lithium transport, using the full range of modern digital tools to accelerate their experimental discovery work.
Expertise in the discovery of new inorganic materials and their structure determination is essential, and expertise in ion transport in solids is desirable. We welcome applications from ambitious researchers with the skills to contribute to the project goal. The project environment will facilitate the development of new skills and the demonstration of creativity and leadership.
This position will form part of the interdisciplinary team in the EPSRC Programme Grant "Digital Navigation of Chemical Space for Function". This team is developing a new approach to materials design and discovery that combines experiment with computation, exploiting both machine learning and symbolic AI. The discovery of new solid electrolytes is a core project target. The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received.
You should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science.
This is a fixed-term post available for 3 years.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
