Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral scientist to join Prof. Simmons's lab to investigate mechanisms of intestinal fibrosis in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The post holder will conduct a research project aiming to define cellular and molecular mechanisms of chronic injury resolution in IBD. The work will involve use of a series of new approaches refined to capture multimodal molecular information from lesional tissue and will examine the role of specific signalling pathways in fibrosis establishment at a functional biological level. As such this post will involve exploring novel biological hypotheses as to the induction and persistence of intestinal fibrosis with use of advanced model systems and a series of cutting-edge technologies to address this question. The post-doc will work iteratively with a multidisciplinary team already employed as part of the work. About the Radcliffe Department of Clinical Medicine The Simmons group is based in the Translational Immune Discovery unit at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine and is at the forefront of intestinal disease biology. The group takes a multi-faceted approach that incorporates molecular, biochemical and computational approaches to address intestinal disease pathogenesis and develop new approaches to treatment.
