Practice Development Nurse

Are you keen to develop your supervising and assessment skills within supportive teams - then this could be the opportunity for you., As a PDN you will be supported by the education team and the surgical matrons to:

Take the support the education agenda within the nursing team across the Surgical Division. The post holder will ensure that clinical skills, competencies, and practice of nursing staff & healthcare assistants are developed in line with patient care needs, service development and national guidance.

Support the development of evidence based adult surgical nursing guidelines and protocols in support of national and local objectives.

Provide clinical and educational support for nurses and healthcare assistants on the wards and departments of surgery.

Facilitate and support student placement learning for undergraduate nursing students in conjunction with the Lead Nurse for Education and the Nurse Education Team.

Provide training for those staff on the Preceptorship Programme and meet the national requirements.

In order to help achieve this Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust Planned care division are looking for an experienced surgical nurse with a passion for teaching for the role of practice development nurse (PDN).

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
