Full Job Description

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in all aspects of Patient Services and Pharmacy Practice, working in Patient Services on designated days.
  • Collaborate with the Patient Services Team to deliver high-quality education and training on local policies, procedures, and safety initiatives, while supporting the implementation of system changes.
  • Proactively train pharmacy staff on-the-job and conduct training needs analysis to identify priority areas for ongoing educational support within the Operations team.
  • Lead the continuous education, training, and professional development of staff, promoting the acquisition of new skills, knowledge, and competencies.
  • Act as an autonomous professional practitioner and role model within the department., Policy & service development:
  • To be responsible for the education and development of all Pharmacy staff in practice supporting on-the-job training and practice development.
  • To work with the Patient Services Team to develop and maintain orientation packages for new staff and be responsible for their orientation to the dispensary and department.
  • To support with reviewing and writing Patient Services SOPs as required.
  • To lead the continuing education, training and professional development of staff continuously promoting the acquisition of new skills, knowledge and competence in Patient Services and the wider department.
  • To liaise with the Patient Services Team to identify how best training and development can be utilised to meet service needs and manage risk.
  • To contribute to an environment in which effective practice is fostered, implemented, evaluated and disseminated through a range of approaches.
  • To propose, contribute to, and participate in, pharmacy service developments and quality improvement projects in line with departmental and Trust priorities.
  • To develop and maintain accurate training records and produce reports as required. To provide the Deputy Chief Pharmacist Operations with details of output, performance and activity at specified time intervals in the agreed format.
