Full Job Description
We are looking for a proactive leader with experience of practice education and with an ability to change and adapt their teaching style and subject matter according to service needs. You should be enthusiastic and passionate and have the desire to share learning in a Just Culture.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the educational service for staff within the Women and Newborn Division, this will include both junior and senior midwifery and nursing staff, and where appropriate medical staff and other allied health professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for appropriate delivery of training and education including implementation of national standards for midwives ensuring that practice is evidence-based.
The post holder will be responsible for identifying training and education needs through analysis of clinical and national recommendations as well as advising on the resources required.
You will be expected to have strong communication skills demonstrating high levels of autonomy, clinical and leadership skills., As the Practice Education Midwife (lead), the main duties and responsibilities include:
1. To work in close collaboration with the Matron, Consultants, and Co-ordinators to identify training and education requirements for all levels of staff.
2. To carry out training needs analysis and develop appropriate training plans and recommendations to fill the skills and knowledge gap.
3. To maintain personal clinical competence and credibility, delivering maternity care.
4. To ensure that midwifery care meets all CQC and peer review training requirements including mandatory training and medical device training.
5. To maintain skills and competencies for Registered Midwives in line with local and national requirements.
6. You will be responsible for planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary and multi-professional training, Such as PROMPT, Saving Babies' Lives and mandatory study, incorporating local and national themes to illustrate areas for improvement.
7. To promote and provide opportunities and resources for staff training, academic courses and development.
8. To act as a Practice Assessor (in line with NMC Guidance for Students) and as an appraiser/line manager to clinicians.
9. Provide individualised situated support in a clinical environment for students, apprentices, return-to practice learners, and early career midwives.
10. You will work cohesively with the Quality and Safety Matron around the safety agenda both within the department and outwardly with our partner providers., We continue to encourage and support our staff to participate in the seasonal respiratory vaccination programme in order to protect themselves, colleagues and their patients.

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.
