Full Job Description

As a Practice Educator you will be responsible for leading the talent for care work hosted by Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the Milton Keynes area as part of a system wide project. Working closely with the Associate Directors of Nursing, Clinical Education Lead and internal and external stakeholders.

You will need to demonstrate proactive problem solving capabilities and a high level of concentration.

The successful candidate must be able to work accurately to deadlines and be flexible, as the role will continue to develop.

To lead and support the talent for care structure across the system but with a primary focus on the Milton Keynes area, by creating and facilitating new and ongoing programmes of learning through a multitude of delivery platforms.

Taking directive from the Clinical Education Lead, while working closely with the talent for care team and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet local, regional and national objectives.

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

Contribute to the development and delivery of local and national objectives in relation to talent for care and the NHS workforce strategy, by delivering and evaluating appropriate training packages and competency assessments.

Lead and support with ongoing expansion work as the talent for care project across the system continues to develop and evolve.

To work as a member of the trust education team delivering classroom training on each of the programmes associated with talent for care.

To contribute to the quality control aspects of all pre and post professional training provisions within the trust.

Maintain awareness of the other work streams and projects and cross cover colleagues as required.

Being flexible, to work with learners out of hours or when required, work as part of the team in a clinical area, i.e. when the hospital is in escalation.

To take part in sharing good practice days for multi-professional staff, raising awareness of development opportunities both internally and externally including careers fairs.

To gain accreditation with relevant training institutes to ensure quality standards are evident in internal and external training programmes.

To support the on-going trust Practice Education team programmes.

To provide approved training programmes using the latest research, developing resources and presentations. For those programmes they are responsible for, continually evaluate them using feedback to further develop opportunities for growth.

To support subject matter experts in the planning, implementation and monitoring of educational programmes and competencies.

Uphold the principles of the NMC Code or HCPC standards.

The successful candidate will be expected to work weekends and evenings with some off-site working.
