Full Job Description

Advancing Practice across Derbyshire is growing at a considerable pace. The challenges of support for trainees at both enhanced and advanced Clinical Practice in UTCs is widely recognised. Enhanced level practice is an area which we are focussing on for the coming year as we are keen to ensure that there is a defined training structure and access to capability framework for colleagues working at this level of practice., We are excited to offer this opportunity either on 12-month fixed term contract or secondment arrangement for a qualified and experienced ECP (enhanced community practitioner) to join our growing Multi-Professional Practice Education Team to work as a Practice Educator for UTC Enhanced Practitioners. The role is 37.5 hrs per week, worked across Mon - Fri.We will need successful applicants to be willing to work flexibly and to travel as our trainees are Derbyshire-wide. Geographical areas and restrictions can be discussed and negotiated within reason and both remote and virtual working ensures that travel is done only where necessary., The role will involve meeting with individual trainees in their clinical setting to undertake the role of practice educator, support with commencement and progression with a portfolio of evidence of capability and providing 1:1 roving supervision sessions within their clinical setting to support with workplace-based assessments. The successful applicant will have a key role in enhancing this service delivery and helping to evaluate and expand it further. The successful applicant will have the benefit of becoming part of the Multi-Professional Practice Education Team for peer support and networking, and training around supervision skills and requirements etc will be offered as part of induction process. These sessions support continuing professional development and training for the range of clinicians working at and towards a level of Enhanced or Advanced clinical practice as described by NHSEngland. This will include clinical practitioners working in the four urgent treatment centres. Educators will be expected to:

  • Support development of clinical reasoning and decision making
  • Guide development of clinical assessment skills
  • Undertake work-place based assessments to provide structured feedback to form part of a portfolio of clinical capability for practitioners
  • Feedback to trainees and educational leadership team regarding progress and any concerns or difficulties

    To be eligible for the role applicants must have completed both Advanced Physical Assessment and non-medical Prescriber training and have at least 2 years' experience in practice in an ECP (community) role.
