Full Job Description

This role will initially focus on identifying high impact clinical areas for immediate improvement, as well as inputting into the long term strategy for culture and inclusion in the following areas (although not an exclusive list)

Thereafter the role will be to work with service users and staff to promote an enabling environment for all, ensuring equity in opportunity and access., The postholder will be responsible for the management and chairing of the Quality Impact Assement panels, representing and progressing QIAs to ensure equity and equalty. You will be a key resource and advisory both for the Trust and a representative of the interests of the NMAHP workforce to the regional forums.

· There is a requirement to exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder needs to ensure that all barriers to understanding are overcome by using differing strategies to meet individual need.
· To work alongside recruitment to review hiring manager education, with a focus on self management of conscious and unconscious bias
· Attend and be an active member of Directorate/ Divisional meetings and working groups.
· To work with multiple agencies within the Trust to ensure the identification of key areas of focus and improvement, which may include governance, quality and safety, security, clinical and corporate teams
· To work to ensure the patient voice is at the heart of all Trust decisions, working alongside the Corporate Patient Safety Expert for Lived Experience
· Hold regular meetings with senior teams as a means to provide an opportunity to escalate specific concerns and report actions
· The post holder will demonstrate the skills for assessing and interpreting data.
· Investigate and respond to incidents, complaints and other significant events, participating in the preparation and governance of action plans where appropriate
· The postholder will have demonstrable planning & organisational skills
· The post holder will prioritise, plan workload and organise own time
· Contribute to the principles of clinical governance ensuring that quality standards are set and monitored. Ensure that clinical risk management and clinical audit are an integral part of the ward function.
· Required to co-ordinate activities with other professional agencies.
· Ensure that staff within the clinical areas have access to and are aware of most recent national and local policies which impact and affect care delivery.
· The post holder will be required to have the dexterity and accuracy required for data collection and use of equipment
· The post holder will be required to have standard or enhanced keyboard skills, use of presentation, projection/multimedia equipment and e-learning resources.
· To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors or HCPC
· To be accountable for own clinical practice and professional actions at all times.
· Develop programmes of education, development and training in conjunction with the Senior Nurse for Workforce Development and Education
· Work within Trust policies, challenging processes where appropriate
· Interpret and implement national policies and procedures relating to culture and inclusion
· Develops new policies and standard operating procedures relevant to their sphere of working and share practice across the Trust Responsibility for Financial and Physical Resources
· Demonstrate effective management and efficient use of available resources.
· As part of the Trust's recruitment and retention strategies be involved in the undertaking of exit interviews for staff who leave the Trust.
· Provide leadership to the clinical teams, identifying and implementing innovation in clinical practice
· Participate in the recruitment and selection processes with hiring managers to effect the reduction of unconscious and conscious bias
· Contribute to the formal induction of all new staff.
· Participate in the preceptorship of newly appointed staff and the education of learners and clinical support workers
· Provide appropriate education, training and development opportunities to enhance staff performance
· Ensure clinical supervision is available on the ward / department Responsibility for Information Resources
· Updates patient records Responsibility for Research and Development
· Participate as an individual in surveys.
· May participate in clinical research, audit and trials
· Accountable for own professional actions: not directly supervised.
