Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a practice educator to enhance patient care by supporting and developing our nursing teams. Key priorities will be to develop and deliver teaching packages and ensure compliance with mandatory training. You will also support the wards in embedding practice and developments required as part of the Nursing Assessment and Performance Framework process.
The ideal candidate will have experience at Band 6 level within respiratory, have excellent teaching skills and be an effective role model to all grades of staff. You will work closely with the ward managers to identify how training requirements will be met to ensure the workforce is equipped to deliver safe care and maintain accurate training records to evidence this.
Effective management, communication and leadership skills are essential for this role and though the role will be primarily clinically based across the 4 respiratory wards, you may be expected to undertake some classroom based teaching and support practice educators within other directorates that form MEC, Work closely with ward managers, specialist services to support induction and training of staff
Development and delivery of training packages to all grades of staff
Support and development and assessment of competency (of staff) across a range of clinical skills
Provision of accurate training records
Ensuring staff are up to date with all mandatory and essential to role training

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)
If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.
The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £42.90 and for a Standard Disclosure £22.90 which includes a small handling fee.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, highly skilled and knowledgeable respiratory nurse to join the respiratory directorate, and support the Medicine and Emergency Care division (MEC) as a clinical practice educator. Our respiratory nursing team work in a fast-paced and acute clinical service that delivers care to patients with a wide range of respiratory illnesses, and those requiring non-invasive ventilation (NIV)., Clinical Knowledge base for acute patients particularly in Respiratory Medicine
Well developed communication skills -able to engage, inspire and motivate both staff & patients in the clinical area.
Good time management skills are essential

Ensure improvements in patient outcomes & safety by development and delivery of clinical training for staff
