Do you have a specialist interest in the nursing management of renal patients in the inpatient environment? Do you have a passion to share your knowledge with others? have you got experience in this area of nursing, inclusive of Peritoneal Dialysis and Transplant nursing care? If so, this could be an exciting opportunity for you!
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Children's Nurse to apply for a post as a Band 6 Educator with an interest in Renal on ward 77.
Ward 77 is a busy 32 bedded surgical ward specialising in Nephrology, Urology, General and Complex Surgery and Surgical Gastroenterology. We provide specialist care for patients with Nephrology conditions to the local, national and international population. Ward 77 also specialises in renal transplantation and we provide 1 to 1 high dependency nursing care for children immediately post transplantation as well as providing peritoneal dialysis within the inpatient ward area., The successful candidate will focus on;
· Bedside training and education, for staff, patients and carers.
· Supporting classroom teaching on renal conditions and nursing care.
· Facilitate the creating of a positive learning environment where staff development is encouraged and supported and talent is fostered and enhanced.
· Leadership and professional role modelling through ward round preparation and coordination, complex communication, challenging practice as required and celebrating achievement as it occurs.
· Review of renal pathways to identify training needs of ward staff and ensure appropriate education.
· Review of local guidelines and protocols to ensure up to date and accessible to staff.
· To continue to review and update the ward education strategy to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills of ward staff.
· To participate in teaching/ training for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital "New Staff Induction Programme".
