Full Job Description

To develop the necessary knowledge and skills to enable professional registration following completion of the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship (Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians).

To work with professional staff, patients and carers in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service in designated areas under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy technician, to ensure high quality patient focused pharmaceutical care

To work under supervision to perform a range of technical duties in the dispensaries to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the department.

The apprenticeship includes on-line remote learning with Bradford College and working in the hospitals covering all aspects of hospital pharmacy and medicines optimisation- working towards the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.

Minimum entry requirements:

  • 4 GCSEs A-C in Maths, English Language , one Science subject and one other. Level 2 Dual award Science and Level 3 Dual award Applied Science are accepted; however Level 2 Dual award Applied Science would need checking by the college.


  • (For internal pharmacy assistants who have been working as a pharmacy assistant for over 2 years with a Level 2 in Pharmacy but do not have the Science GCSE - a science screening test will be provided by the college as an alternative entry requirement).

    The pharmacy team in TEWV has over 100 team members including drivers, pharmacy assistants, administration, nurses, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Individual team members are spread across multiple sites, with a dispensary in each of our 3 localities. The locality teams work independently, but come together to agree standards and best practice, learning from each other and trying to improve.

    We developed a 5-year Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Framework which was created with the teams to produce a shared set of themes and priorities.

    We have 3 positions for2 year fixed term contracts - one split role between Lanchester Road Hospital and West Park Hospital and two posts for Roseberry Park Hospital - due to start at theend of February 2025.
