Full Job Description

The successful candidate will complete a GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) recognised accredited qualification (apprenticeship) that will result in the post holder being able to register with the GPhC as a qualified Pharmacy Technician. The qualification will be a mixture of studying and showing competence within the workplace and successful candidates will be required to participate in a rotational training programme. These rotations include patient services, distribution, aseptics, clinical services and outpatient pharmacy., The programme will consist of practical training through a structured placement plan within the hospital pharmacy services to gain experience and undergo competence assessments under the supervision of registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in accordance with the policies and procedures of each rotation.
The candidate will also acquire the necessary knowledge to support practical training through an assigned education course provider. The candidate is expected to maintain sufficient progress and meet the requirements of the learning agreements which will be signed and agreed by the trainee, education course provider and the workplace.
The successful candidate will also be required to:
+ Work in an environment that will support patients with their medications, managing the supply of medicines manufacturing of sterile products and assisting Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

+ Demonstrate that they have a passion for a career in pharmacy, are patient focused, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be committed to the training programme and keen to get involved in hospital life.
+ Having the ability to cope with the discipline of studying whilst working as part of a team across this busy department is essential; therefore, a professional approach is key.

NB Annex 21 Band 4 remuneration applies to this role:
+ More than 1 but less than 2 years prior to completion - 70% of the top of band 4
+ Up to 12 months prior to completion - 75% of the top of band 4
