thrive and to achieve their very best., The Premises Maintenance Assistant will carry out maintenance, decoration tasks and gardening
as directed by the Headteacher, ensuring that the whole school environment and support
services are maintained to a high standard. You may on occasion be asked to provide cover by
carrying out some of the Premise Manager's tasks which may include an additional two hours
work in a morning., Building Maintenance and Management

  • To assist with the maintenance of the school site and ensure that the premises are maintained

  • to a high standard. This includes the following:
  • To carry out decoration tasks as required.

  • To carry out minor improvement work as required

  • Repair door furniture, fixtures and fittings as required.

  • Touch up and make good paintwork as required.


  • Gardening
  • To lead on improving and maintaining the school grounds and planting.

  • To identify planting areas for improvement; planning and carrying out work

  • To complete a grounds walk each day to check the area for hazards; working with the premises

  • manager to maintain a safe environment
  • To ensure high standards of presentation of plant beds


  • Caretaking and Cleaning
  • To carry out deep cleans in specified areas as required

  • To carry out cleaning duties in the event of an emergency as required.

  • To assist with the organisation and movement of furniture and equipment within the premises.

  • To ensure that the operation of equipment and tools associated with caretaking and

  • maintenance work are used and stored safely.
  • To wash windows and clean carpets as required


  • Security and Heath & Safety
  • To follow the daily security routines of the school as laid down by the Headteacher and report

  • any potential security breaches.
  • To be aware of health and safety regulations around the school and report any health and

  • safety issues.

    General Duties
  • To assist the School leadership team in carrying out their duties in relation to Health and

  • Safety.
  • To attend meetings and training courses as required.

  • To undertake such other duties appropriate to the post as may from time to time be required

  • to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school.

    Rustington Community Primary School is part of Schoolsworks Academy Trust. We are currently
    seeking to appoint a Premises Maintenance Assistant to support the Headteacher in the
    maintenance of the school site, including an interest and aptitude for gardening.

    To meet the needs of the school, it will require working hours to have a degree of flexibility
    around the school day and may be flexible and task specific.

    The successful applicant will:

  • have experience of completing common maintenance or DIY -type tasks


  • be able to work closely with professionals and pupils in the school


  • be able to manage their own workload, including managing time effectively


  • ensure that the school is well maintained, clean and tidy


  • be a team player, Clean Driving Licence


  • Buildings and maintenance certificates e.g. City and Guilds

    DIY skills in the areas of carpentry , electrics, plumbing
    and decorating
    Cleaning skills including the ability to deal with bodily
    fluids, drains toilets etc.



    Skills

    Awareness of CSHH, Asbestos

    Awareness of Health & Safety procedures and precautions

    Awareness of using ladders safely

    Willingness to undertake Health & Safety and any
    associated training

    Contract: Permanent
    Hours: 15 hours per week over 5 days, Term Time only
    plus 2 weeks school closure periods
    Daily, 3pm to 6pm (times may be flexible and task specific)
    Salary: Grade 3, SCP 3 -4 £22,737 - £23,114 p.a. pro rata
    (actual starting salary £8,119.a.)
