Full Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and committed school cleaner! Reporting to the School Bursar, you will be part of a small team of dedicated cleaners, responsible for cleaning all areas of the school, ensuring a clean and safe environment for pupils and staff. You will be provided with support, guidance and training as required.

You would be required to work 39 weeks a year (term time plus additional five INSET days), plus an additional 10 full days for deep cleaning purposes. These additional days are usually over the summer holidays and payment is in addition to the basic salary below., Responsible, under the direction of the Bursar, for undertaking the cleaning of all areas of the school to ensure a clean and safe environment.,

  • Clean, mop and vacuum classrooms, hallways, restrooms and other common areas


  • Empty litter and recycling bins


  • Polish and dust, including the cleaning of sanitary ware


  • Report any maintenance or safety issues and concerns to the Bursar.


  • Deep cleaning responsibilities may include wall washing, carpet/rug cleaning, washing floors and internal window cleaning. You should be advised that there will be a requirement to move furniture and carry equipment up and down stairs - manual handling training will be provided.

    The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of the Children's Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance, as it applies to their role in Sellincourt Primary School. They should be fully aware of their duties in regards to child protection and safeguarding, ensuring that any concerns are promptly reported to their line manager.

  • Have an understanding of Health and Safety and COSSH Regulations or a willingness to undertake relevant training.

    Up to 20 hours per week (5pm to 9pm). We are happy to be flexible to accommodate the right candidate


  • Term Time Only (39 weeks) (38 weeks + 5 INSET days) plus an additional 10 full days for deep cleaning purposes. These additional days are usually over the summer holidays and payment is in addition to the basic salary.
