Full Job Description

This post will be working as part of the preoperative team based across two sites. The role is on a busy unit and the expectation is that a uniform will be worn. This role is front of house and key person to the patient, representing the department.

You will provide high quality admin and clerical support in the form of booking patients into the unit using hospital systems and ensuring adequate clinic preparation to ensure the smooth running of the unit.

You will have the ability to use initiative and judgement in dealing with enquiries and situations. You will use your ability to exercise judgement and initiative when dealing with urgent enquiries and knowing when to escalate.

You will liaise closely with our nursing and administrative teams and attend morning meetings to hand over any pertinent information in relation to the expected clinic activity for the day., Print clinic lists from Careflow/patient systems in advance of clinic date and highlight any issues, working with the clinical and administrative teams to support these. Clinic preparation is the responsibility of the receptionist, including organisation of transport solutions.

Greet patients at reception, check their personal details are correct and if necessary, amend in Careflow/patient systems accordingly, ensuring patient confidentiality and accuracy.

Ensure all clinic outcomes are recorded accurately within one working day and escalate any issues with follow up bookings to the admin team, including DNAs.

Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times.

Maintain tidy, safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.

Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.

Able to travel across both sites to cover when necessary.
