NHS Birmingham and Solihull has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the Medicines Management and Optimisation (MMO) Team.

The post holder will be working within allocated GP practices to support the implementation of the MMO strategy to promote high quality, evidence based, safe and cost-effective prescribing.Highly regarded by the organisation and GP practices, you will be an integral member of the MMO Team supporting the delivery of Medicines Optimisation initiativesthat improve care and tackle health inequalities. The post offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate to further develop their insight into primary care and broaden their experience within different healthcare settings.

Although there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to travel across the geography of Birmingham and Solihull, where required, the MMO Team work in six locality teams. Preference for alignment of locality will be discussed during the recruitment process.

The MMO team have core operational hours between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday; team members will work their agreed hours during this time. The ICB promotes flexible and agile (practice locations or office base) working as a commitment to equality and making staff feel valued., The Medicines Management and Optimisation Team is a large, dynamic, and innovative team, providing expert pharmaceutical advice to GPs and other primary care clinicians.

As a Prescribing Support Pharmacist, you will be joining an innovative team helping to implement the ICS' strategy of improving care for people living in the Birmingham and Solihull footprint.

Your responsibilities will include planning and implementing medicines management priorities at locality level, promoting high quality, , evidence based, cost effective prescribing. You will develop and maintain key relationships with allocated GP practices and be on hand to provide specialist prescribing support, medicines related information and training within agreedparameters to practice staff and ICB colleagues.

As a member of the MMO Team, patients will be at the heart of everything you do - you will be joining a team dedicated to delivering high quality care and tackling health inequalities.

The post holder will have a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or be working towards this qualification. For those candidates working towards the postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Annex 21 will be applicable. The post is advertised as a Band 8a, however applicants who do not currently have a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under annex 21 rules supported by a development plan for the length of obtaining the qualification.
