Full Job Description

This role will support the Chief Communications Officer to maintain and advance our positioning as an iconic, successful and global luxury brand among influential corporate and luxury media. Additionally, this role will provide strategic PR counsel on matters regarding the Company's corporate strategy, business performance and financial results. Embedded within the central PR team, the role holder will advance understanding of the McLaren Automotive story through building and maintaining relationships with key global media and interaction with relevant internal (the executive) and external stakeholders. The function will have primary responsibility for managing the day-to-day running of the growing corporate, luxury and financial PR function liaising with media and key stakeholders while working hand-in-glove with the international PR teams to plan and manage their regional PR initiatives. A key focus will be strategic PR planning and execution to support communications around our brand Partners and key licensees, generating positive media coverage and a deeper engagement among stakeholders. What You'll Do

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of McLaren Automotive through the contribution to and implementation of comprehensive media and stakeholder activities for financial, corporate and luxury lifestyle news about the business.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the McLaren Automotive corporate narrative in order to manage effective media and stakeholder relationships.
  • The ability to manage day-to-day reactive inbound queries from media and/or stakeholders - whether that is media, stakeholders. Combined with the ability to generate creative ideas that result in high-impact press and brand positioning opportunities which contribute towards overall team and brand objectives and metrics.
  • Manage the running of a corporate and/or luxury media element to relevant global test drive events to ensure maximum ROI is delivered.
  • Corporate Relations
  • Support the Chief Communication Officers where necessary on media handling around Group matters including corporate strategy and financial results. This can include the timely preparation of media materials and reports as well as ensure seamless alignment of relevant internal communications.
  • Front line point of contact for the media in both positive press generation and, where necessary, reactive media handling on sensitive corporate topics.
  • Work closely with the Head of Government Affairs to manage the media component of any Government affairs outreach.
  • Luxury media
  • Help position McLaren as a modern luxury brand plus create desire and aspiration by generating positive editorial coverage through assisting the Chief Communications Officer to identify and develop long-term positive media relationships with Tier 1 luxury media in key global regions but with a focus on the UK.
  • Managing press fleet loan arrangements for both corporate and luxury media as well as influential stakeholders.
  • Working with Partners / licensees
  • Act as the day-to-day point person between the central PR team, regional teams and marketing team to provide information and materials in a timely manner and to ensure central and regional plans are aligned.
  • Produce well crafted, factually accurate written materials (such as press releases and briefings) to support media relations activities alongside assisting the social team to create and deliver suites of content.
  • Act as the day-to-day point person with any agency support to deliver effective campaign and post campaign evaluation analysis including the collation of reports and analysis including media measurements, press clippings, internal business updates.
  • Working with our official Partners, the designated Partner manager and the social media team to successfully activate the media component of any PR rights.
  • Work with selected licensees (for example, LEGO, TUMI) to deliver similar.
  • Strategic communications support
  • Work closely with the internal communications function to align corporate messaging internally and externally.
  • Support the social media team to align corporate messaging and manage the CEO LinkedIn account.
  • Support CEO and other senior executive speech writing and messaging preparation where required.
  • Budget management & team support
  • Raising and processing POs and supplier payments in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the Chief Communications Officer in delivering a range of activities within the designated budgets.

    Strong knowledge of the corporate and luxury media landscape and established relationships with, and history of working directly with those media; established network of contacts in key market(s).
  • Experience in a corporate PR role.
  • Core communications skills, including presenting, writing for print and online media to a high-level, internal reporting, and agency/supplier management.
  • Experience of working within dynamic and change-oriented teams.
  • Experience in managing a budget.
  • A proactive mindset that has generated creative solutions to strategic and tactical business challenges, supporting the market goals.
  • General understanding of design and engineering attributes of supercars and of the history of global supercar development.
  • Experience of internal communications is a bonus.
  • For the position advertised, experience in the luxury industries.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; another language is a plus.
