Full Job Description

Pricing (Actuarial), Data & Analytics Graduate Programme Location: Leicester, Bexhill, or London Welcome to Hastings Direct - From our Group HR Director Pam Angel We're a digital insurance provider with ambitious plans to become the best and biggest in the UK market. We've made huge investments in our data and tech capabilities over the past few years, along with nurturing our 4Cs culture. We were also named the UK's Best Big Company to work for in 2024. We're proud of the journey we're on as a company and know that our continued success will rely on the contribution of our talented colleagues. We have over 3.8 million live customer policies, but we know there's an even bigger opportunity out there. The fact you're now reading this job advert means we've tempted you to find out more about #lifeatHD - we really hope you like what you see, and you'll join us to share in the success of the exciting chapter that lies ahead. Programme overview: You will be joining Hastings Pricing Data and Analytics (PDA) community; a friendly and inclusive group that brings together colleagues from different departments and functions. We work together to centralise data for decision-making. The community is built on collaboration and trust, with data, predictive models, scores, and engineered data features being shared among the PDA community. We perform analysis and train models based on a curated set of analytics-first data assets. The PDA graduate programme is made up of 3 different pathways, Actuarial, Engineering and Data Science & Analytics. Engineering: As a member of the Engineering programme you will work closely with business stakeholders to build and maintain data, pricing and claims assets to support analytical teams. This means you could be working on anything from curating quote, policy or claims data, to deploying new pricing algorithms, automation, or fraud detection. You'll play a critical role in establishing and enforcing governance practices to maintain the accuracy, security and compliance of our data and delivery processes. Data Science: The Data Science & Analytics Graduate Programme is designed to give you the opportunity to apply innovative data science techniques to solve real-world business challenges and deliver commercial value. You'll work closely with and learn from recognised experts in collecting and analysing large data sets to create data-led solutions that incorporate automation, machine learning and software design. Actuarial: The Actuarial Graduate Programme involves participating in project-based activities and tasks during placements, interacting with various stakeholders across the organisation. You will learn the company's current actuarial modelling techniques and explore new tools, platforms, and methods for generating insights. Additionally, you will develop predictive models and algorithms to help inform our underwriting decisions. As a member of our Actuarial team, you will be expected to obtain Associate and Fellowship qualifications from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). Graduates are anticipated to achieve Associate status within two to three years. We provide comprehensive funding and support for this process. You will be able to select one or more pathway preferences during the application process. Note, the application process remains the same and the final pathway selection will be made based on fit and consideration of your preferences.
