Full Job Description

  • To maintain an up to date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice. This includes an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of those who contribute to SEN programmes.

  • To effectively Co-ordinate the work within the nurture class, covering all subject areas and cross-curricular themes, in conjunction with Subject Leaders as set out in the curriculum policy.

  • To communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, participating in student focused meetings as required.

  • Being familiar with curriculum requirements and making full use of assessment information to develop, adapt and evaluate teaching strategies to give maximum benefit to students with SEN

  • Identifying appropriate learning outcomes and developing a range of approaches which reduce barriers arising from impairments and help students to attain achievable targets.

  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to make best use of expertise.

  • Knowledge of the learning process and good educational practice.

  • Ability to plan and prepare educational activities to meet specified needs and review their effectiveness.

  • Ability to demonstrate a range of good teaching technique.

    Greenfields school: Located in Bassaleg, Newport supporting learners aged 9-16 with learning differences. The school is registered to provide education for up to 20 pupils, who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). We cater for a mix of residential and day placements.
