Full Job Description

We have a permanent, full-time vacancy (37 hours a week) for a KR12 Principal Accountant (Revenue Finance, Adults and Public Health) within Kent County Council's (KCC's) Finance division. The primary location for this post is Sessions House, although the post currently involves working from home, with some office working as required at Maidstone.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include providing financial advice, challenge and support across a range of schemes, working alongside internal and external stakeholders. The role is varied and includes completion of various revenue budget related government returns, as well as responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) and media requests as directed. For full details of the role, please see the attached job description.

You will be a Qualified Accountant (CCAB) and/or with proven ability to the job. You will be expected to have experience of working in a senior management finance role, and experience of working effectively with Senior Officers, Heads of Service and Budget Managers. It is important that you have accountancy experience of meeting fixed, non-negotiable deadlines whilst still maintaining high quality standards. Due to the need to engage with others as part of this role, you must have high level interpersonal skills and communication skills, both orally and in writing.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Whilst this role does not currently involve formal line management of staff, it is expected that you will have the ability to manage staff and be able to advise and support less experienced staff.

Work that works for you and us - let's talk flexibility!

KCC is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the county's working residents, encouraging applications from people of all ages, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds, faiths and those with caring responsibilities, and aspires to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves at work.

Please note - if you are interested, please apply as soon as possible as the closing date for this advert may be earlier than stated should a number of suitably qualified candidates apply.
