Full Job Description
At a Principal SLT level to assess, treat and discharge adult clients referred with communication and swallowing difficulties, specifically those with log with long term conditions, for example MND, Dysfluency in the main Croydon University Hospital Out-patient area and Community Adult SLT Teams.
- 1. To work in accordance with Croydon Health Services Consent to Treatment policy;
- 2. To demonstrate clinical expertise in assessment, treatment and management of adult patients who have communication difficulties, for example Dysfluency and voice problems, as well as patients with communication and swallowing problems, specifically those with progressive disorders;
- 3. To provide appropriate highly specialist intervention to all adult patients referred for communication and / or swallowing problems and evaluate outcomes including ability to lead some of the videofluoroscopy assessment clinics run weekly in the Trust, Please refer to the job description that is attached for further information regarding this post
In our Team of Adult Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) in Croydon we have a vacancy for an experienced SLT to work with patients who have long-term conditions. The post is within our Out-patient / Community Teams; there will also be a small caseload of patients who have voice problems. There are opportunities to develop skills into this post with demonstration of some experience and knowledge in assessment, treatment and management of patients who have acquired communication and swallowing problems following neurological events and primarily have experience working with patients who have voice disorders. There is a management component to this role, for other SLTs The post holder will be working mainly in the Community Teams - Out-patients; home visiting may be required. The successful candidate should be able to cover patients in the wider team, reflecting the integrated care approach to our patients for example, the rota for videofluoroscopy clinics. FEES experience and LSVT certification would be desirable, but not essential. The post holder will receive excellent support from the Service and a firm commitment to continuing professional development. The Speech and Language Therapy Service in Croydon has Reflective Practice groups arranged, regular in-service meetings and a good social support network., - Experience of working with patients and families who have long-term health issues with swallowing and communication difficulties
