Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Applied Psychologist who is passionate about supporting individuals to achieve their full potential and maximise their quality of life, to join our new Community Enablement and Recovery Team (CERT) across the Black Country.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illness and complex emotional needs. Our clients can present with difficult to manage psychosis symptoms, trauma psychosis and sometimes overlapping with personality disorders and substance misuse issues.

You will have the opportunity to integrate approaches and work for medium to longer term durations with service users.

You will work within CERT but have close links with the Complex Emotional Needs Pathway who both will be embedded within the CMHTs.

You will be an active member of CERT's leadership and MDT. You will be supporting service development initiatives, delivery and evaluation of this new pathway. We welcome and would support any research initiatives you may wish to develop, leading to publication for example.

You will receive regular formal and informal support from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist who leads over CERT and CEN and will work closely with peer CEN Applied Psychologists, as part of a new specialist psychology offer.,

  • To provide specialised and evidence-based psychological interventions to the clients and families requiring input from the CMH Rehabilitation Pathway. The post holder will hold an individual caseload

  • To offer complex assessments leading to the co-production of psychological formulations for the client and for the team; use and interpretation of psychotherapeutic assessment instruments; and the development and delivery of individual and team-based intervention plans.

  • To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and co-ordinated service for clients and their families.

  • To provide advice, consultation and clinical supervision to colleagues, and guidance to professional and non-professional carers.

  • To engage with the service leadership within CERT, supporting the development, delivery and evaluation of this new pathway, and supporting the recruitment of new staff.

  • You will work within the Trust values of Caring, Enabling, Working Together and Integrity

  • Responsible for providing high-quality psychological assessments, leading on formulation driven care planning and providing specialised and evidence-based psychological interventions to clients and their families.

  • To provide clinical supervision, teaching and reflective practice groups, as well as offering Formulation and consultation and training to a wide variety of professionals involved in our services users care.
