Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit an experienced Principal Applied Psychologist to be part of the newly developed and co-produced Complex Emotional Needs Pathway, a key element of the Black Country Community Transformation Program. The Pathway aims to improve experiences and outcomes for service users who frequently attract a diagnosis of Personality Disorder, who have histories of multiple traumas and often co-existing secondary difficulties, such as neurodiversity or drug and alcohol abuse. You will be part of a new and virtual multi-disciplinary team that will be integrated into the CMHTs across the Trust, providing bespoke and wrap around care. The post holder will demonstrate a keen interest in working specifically with Complex Emotional Needs . They will have developed a skill set that will enable them to work clinically in an evidence based way, promote psychological and formulation driven care and tackle stigmatising practice and negative attitudes towards people with Complex
Emotional Needs., In terms of leadership, you will be supporting service development initiatives, delivery and evaluation of this new pathway. You will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological assessments, leading on formulation driven care and risk management planning and providing specialised and evidence-based psychological interventions to clients and their families. You will have the opportunity to integrate psychological treatment approaches and work for medium to longer term durations with service users. Your caseload will be realistic so that you can provide and plan training, supervision and reflective practice to colleagues both in and outside the Trust. Where possible you will work alongside and support Lived Experience Consultants and carers., As a psychologist you will be part of a large professional group that spans across Adult, Child, LD & Autism and Older Adult Divisions. We are represented at Board level, by our Director of Therapies, and also lead by Consultant Professional Leads in each Division. You will have the opportunity therefore to seek support widely beyond your role and have access to a wide range of cascaded information, training and resources. We have a strong supervision culture and you will be directly supported by the CEN Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
