Full Job Description

We are seeking an officer to lead on our climate change and sustainability strategies. This role will be responsible for the delivery and the successful implementation of climate change and sustainability related projects. You will work in partnership with key officers at the Council and external stakeholders including other local authorities, developers and the community.

The role will include monitoring and reporting on strategies regarding reductions in the Council and Borough's carbon footprint, formulating and updating relevant policies, and leading promotional campaigns to create awareness of these important matters amongst employees, the public, school children and local businesses. It will involve bidding for external funding for related projects, managing contracts and project delivery.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate professional qualification in planning and / or environmental sustainability and have a proven track record in negotiation, project development / management. They will be confident in preparing and presenting management reports. Excellent communication skills, and developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is also essential.

Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire and is an attractive environment in which to live and work. It adjoins Greater London and has excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
