Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with suitable experience of working in the area of adult learning disabilities who is interested in furthering their clinical and leadership skills. The post includes 0.60 WTE sessions (22.5 hours) as Principal Psychologist for the Learning Disabilities Psychological Professions in NELFT, working along-side the Professional Lead of the service., To provide, develop and manage highly specialist learning disabilities psychological interventions to patients with complex needs.
To provide clinical supervision to key psychologists, counsellors, assistants, trainees or other professionals.
To manage staff within the designated specialist care pathway.
To undertake some specialist clinical work and ensuring the delivery of safe clinical practices that reduce risk to service users, carers and staff.
To develop and maintain excellent relationships with other services in NELFT.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

To be responsible for management and managing caseloads, staffing and other resources.
To work with the Professional Lead for Learning Disabilities Psychological Professions towards strategic development of learning disabilities psychological services in line with national and local priorities.
To provide at least three evidence-based and high level specialist clinical skills, to assess and treat caseload and maintain associated records supporting patients within Learning Disabilities Psychological Professions, their families, and staff within NELFT.
To be responsible for overseeing research and evaluation within the service.
To provide line management of Borough leads and monitor service delivery, by providing clinical leadership and clinical supervision in each borough.
To undertake some specialist clinical work and ensuring the delivery of safe clinical practices that reduce risk to service users, carers and staff.
