Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a principal clinical psychologist to contribute to the ongoing development of the Mental Health and Intensive Support Team (MHIST). This will include direct and indirect work in line with national guidance, along with the supporting of more junior psychological staff and non-psychologists; and strategic work in continually improving the service.

Our service is multidisciplinary with nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, healthy lifestyle coaches, senior support workers, peer support workers and along with the post advertised, a small psychological provision (One part time Consultant Clinical Psychologist, one full time associate psychological practitioner and two full time assistant psychologists). The service aims to provide an intensive community rehabilitation-based service for people with complex difficulties to enable them to define, build and live meaningful, independent lives away from long term, complex rehabilitation hospital settings. The team works across the whole CWP footprint, and therefore this role will involve working across the trust.

Whilst it will be essential to have a physical presence across the three localities, we are also committed to offering flexible and agile working to maintain a work/life balance. We are happy to talk flexible working at the interview stage and beyond., To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients with complex presentations that will include personality disorder, complex trauma and other comorbid conditions across community and in patient care. To advise, supervise and support the assessment and treatment provided by clinical members of the teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment within the service. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. To propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the service.

This post is part time 18.75 hours per week.
