Job Title: Principal Commissioning Engineer-Electrical (Propulsion)
Location: Barrow-In-Furness (On-site)
Salary: Negotiable, Depending on your skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Deputise for the relevant Commissioning Project Leader as and when required, including supervision of personnel on shift
- Instruct and mentor members of the team within your knowledge and competency
- Responsible for researching, authoring, and reviewing of design and test documentations to the required standards
- Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders i.e. Engineering, Royal Navy, MoD, and Build Operations to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner
- Keep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure, and legislation
- Represent the company on Factory Acceptance Tests and offsite test facilities, Contractors Sea Trials and other outworking requirements (with scope for overseas travel)
Your Skills and Experience:
- Experience leading of complex Commissioning trials and experience of test groups
- Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of AC and DC Electrical Generation and Power distribution systems
- Experience working with Distribution Systems, C&I, and Electrical Testing
- Knowledge of Instrumentation Systems including Electrostatic Discharge, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, PLCs & Fibre Optics
- Detailed knowledge of Safety Control and Procedures in a high-risk environment

The Propulsion Electrical Commissioning Team:
You will be part of the team responsible for commissioning the electrical power and distribution plant, on the first of class, next generation of Dreadnought submarines. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). This role gives you the opportunity to coach and mentor both Senior Commissioning Engineers and deputising for Commissioning Project leader. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
