- Support innovative data engineering and analysis initiatives, using your expertise to shape data management and drive impactful projects within Underwriting and Pricing
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a high standard in data practices
- This is a hybrid role with 80% homeworking and 20% from Stratford-upon-Avon, We're recruiting for a skilled and committed Principal Analyst to help shape our Head Office Underwriting and Pricing Data Team, bringing advanced technical expertise and vision to the forefront of our data management efforts. In this role, you'll take ownership of data priorities, using your knowledge across a range of data management disciplines to influence outcomes and drive impactful projects. As a technical role model, you'll be instrumental in coaching, supporting and developing junior team members, setting high standards and empowering them with the skills to succeed. You'll design, build, and implement data engineering and assurance activities that are both innovative and aligned with our policies and standards. Your expertise will be crucial in managing complex data analyses, from engineering and transformation to visualisation and delivery. Your insights will inform critical business decisions, and you'll ensure regulatory requirements are met. With an eye for continuous improvement, you'll create and review data models, transformation routines, and performance reports, all while ensuring that our data management controls are robust and effective. Collaboration is key in this role. You'll build relationships across Underwriting, Pricing, and the wider business, advocating for best practices in data management and ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality data solutions. Communication skills are essential, as you'll convey analytical outcomes and drive follow-up actions that provide outstanding service to both our team and business stakeholders. As the technical lead, you'll to plan and manage your projects, balancing timescales while delivering valuable outcomes. In addition, you'll champion process improvements that boost efficiency, customer service, and overall effectiveness.
- Advanced SQL skills as well as experience with SSIS or another ETL tool
- Ability to manage workstreams and delegate to others in order to meet project timeframes
- End to end technical delivery skills, able to take requirements from stakeholders, interpret their needs and deliver in a timely manner
- Critical thinking and problem-solving, with a customer-focused approach that enhances service quality
- Experience with Agile methodology and/or Azure is highly desirable

You have strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in data management and advanced skills in handling large and complex data sets, along with the ability to coordinate multiple technical projects and make data-driven recommendations to senior stakeholders. You communicate effectively with diverse audiences and excel at stakeholder management, including senior level. Your expertise includes data cleansing, manipulation, and warehousing, and you're capable of coaching and mentoring others to share your knowledge. Any experience within the insurance or financial services industry would be desirable but is not essential to be successful in this role. Additionally, you demonstrate:
