  • Leads the design team and design architectural projects to concept stage meeting business, statutory legal and contractual requirements with an ensuing role of technical assurance manager ensuring that the design principles are maintained by the contractor through the developed design and construction. You'll be responsible for:
  • Distributes and manages the deliverables through direct /indirect reports.
  • Provides design and manage the developing design as per contract requirements.
  • Collaborates with the wider design disciplines, client personnel and construction teams.
  • Reports on progress to relevant parties.
  • Attends/participates in client meetings and design workshops as necessary.
  • Manages direct reports work outputs to ensure it is timely, in scope and of a quality expected.
  • Supports in bidding with the wider team where required.
  • Engages with business improvement directives where applicable.
  • Implements training plans for the teams.
  • Leads business improvement working groups to deliver outcomes.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement plans/identifies key business improvements.
  • Develops & maintains a series of both internal and external relationships.
  • Manages & influences key/senior stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
  • You'll need to have:
  • Provide principal designer (building regulations) services for CDM 2015 and building regulations to our clients across all RIBA Stages.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills are an advantage to chair online and in person workshops with designers, to help them comply with their new duty holder roles.
  • Collaboration and team working ethic are essential.
  • A detailed and in-depth understanding of building regulations including fire safety is required,
  • Management support for training and development of others to carry out building regulations compliance checks and management.
  • Provide building safety act consultancy advice and client advisor services to clients to help them comply with their duties.
  • Candidates should be MRICS or CIOB (Level 4 diploma in building control surveying) qualified.

    Mace is currently recruiting qualified building surveyors with a focus on the principal designer roles for CDM 2015 and BSA for our central government team to support our building surveying team to implement the new duty holder roles created under the building safety act 2022 and The building regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) regulations 2023. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in building control compliance delivery and knowledge of the approved documents for a diverse range of instructions., Excellent communication skills

  • Strong knowledge base including building control approvals and consultancy.
