Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Principal EC&I Engineer, means engaging in a diverse and growing array of both international and UK-based projects. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. Your responsibilities will extend to client interaction, crafting bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM's standards for quality, safety, and environmental care. We are looking for individuals who can apply their skills independently and as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to complete turn-key solutions, often including electrical system design, building services and direct consultancy services. The position requires an experienced Principal EC&I Engineer who can then apply their skills as an individual or as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to multi-million pound complete turn-key solutions. This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team with an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects. Here's what you'll do:

  • You will be responsible for delivery of EC&I design & engineering within that department, including the production of design documentation, design substantiation, as well as checking and approval of the work of other engineers & designers.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team, who are capable of growing the EC&I business. Determination and drive to succeed is essential, as is the ability to develop strong networks with our clients and within our organisation.
  • Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

    Ready to push the limits of what's possible?, Qualified to a minimum of HNC level and preferably have a good relevant engineering degree.
  • Chartered Engineering or Incorporated Engineer or on your way to be.
  • Extensive relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge and leadership experience.
  • Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design & User Requirement Specification production.
  • Document and Drawing checking and approval.
  • An appreciation of mechanical / civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints and quality expectations.
  • Manage the work load and technical aspects for large and small teams.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary bid teams.
  • Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors.
  • Assisting in recruitment activities.
  • Risk and quality management.
  • A working knowledge of BS7671
  • Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
  • Building Services design
  • Control system design
  • Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules etc.)
  • Control panel design (GA's, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists etc.)
  • Preferred Additional Qualifications / Skills
  • Nuclear experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Project management skills
  • Experience of commissioning electrical and control systems
  • Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513)
  • Medium / High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
  • Fulfill all responsibilities for Health and Safety in Design.
  • You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
