Full Job Description

The Principal Electoral Services Officer will provide expert advice and support on all matters relating to electoral registration and the conduct of elections, ensuring that all statutory duties are met in accordance with legislation, statutory codes, and other guidance. They will lead on key elements of delivery and support the Electoral Services Manager with the development, and implementation of modern ways of working and professional best practice and will deputise for the Electoral Services Manager as required.

  • A Certificate in Electoral Administration
  • Experience of working in an Electoral Services Team, preferably at a senior level, and delivering projects, to strict legal deadlines, at pace, and often under pressure
  • Detailed knowledge of electoral legislation and its application along with associated guidance and Electoral Management, Software systems, as well as windows based IT packages
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to interpret complex information, excellent communication skills and experience of engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders using tact and diplomacy, creativity and innovation to find solutions to problems and overcome obstacles to ensure deadlines are met
