Full Job Description

This position includes complex electrical engineering design, analysis, and development of an assigned scope of work in a company project and/or specific complex deliverables such as power generation systems, substation & power distribution systems and lighting & earthing systems. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, voltage drop calculations, specification development and electrical one-line diagrams. The candidate should effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers, assists in training other engineers by providing instruction on new technologies and/or a specialization, supports the development of new technologies and methods.

  • Proven technical experience in oil & gas or renewable industries and able to work independently

  • Proven experience with large EPC projects with responsibility for the technical quality of the work

  • Proven experience within a multi office project execution environment including management of shared work scopes

  • Able to either assist in activities such as corporate specifications and standards development, bid estimating, quality audits/ reviews and assisting other projects with technical matters

  • Able to carry out the required technical bid analysis, design development and inspections for seller produced electrical systems or equipment in cooperation with the procurement and inspection Departments

  • Independently makes or reviews network and system calculations and determines necessary safety devices

  • Active in Continual Professional Development and keeping up to date on the development of electrical systems and future working methods/ software applications

  • Shows flexibility and willingness to help colleagues during heavy workload periods, holiday or, illness cover, Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Typically, has at least 15-20 years of detail electrical engineering experience

  • At least 5 years of experience as Lead engineer

  • Membership of a Professional Institution (Chartered Engineer)

  • Working knowledge of IEC standards and codes

  • Familiar with codes and standards of NEC, IEEE, NFPA and ANSI.

  • Knowledgeable on current/new scientific engineering methods and possesses a broad technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process

  • Capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools

  • Able to write and communicate in English

  • Must have supervision qualities

  • Possesses key communicative skills (meetings, reporting)

  • Capable of working under pressure

  • Have persistence to meet objectives

  • Can Coach and Mentor to all within the department

  • Able to interact with other Discipline Leads

  • Able to interact within a multiple office execution environment

  • Able to review and appraise the output reports of electrical system analysis software and calculations

  • Can guide integrated database approach

  • Flexible to travel abroad as required by project
