  • Performing independent inspection, surveillance andconcurrence of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment andnuclear support services, on-board and on-site to evaluate thenuclear and radiological safety and security performance atBarrow Inspecting and assessing the business's capability toprogress the submarine build and/or projects in the SiteRedevelopment Programme to their relevant next stage through the Hold Point Control' process Inspecting the business against the requirements ofrelevant legislation to assess the business' level ofcompliance Communicating, both in writing and verbally, theconclusions of inspections and their findings to variousstakeholders at all levels, including external regulators, boardmembers, senior managers and business peers Independently assessing the business' emergencyarrangements exercises, providing feedback to those developing andmaintaining the arrangements Providing oversight and challenge to various safety/security committees and groups to
  • ensure due process is beingfollowed, and continuing nuclear safety is notcompromised Maintaining oversight of Independent Peer Reviewactivity related to safety documentation aligned with individualAssurance Plans Developing, maintaining and deploying an effectiveOperational Experience feedback system for the Barrow site thatencompasses all relevant nuclear and radiological incidents andevents, from both internal and externalsources

  • Working knowledge of nuclear sitelicence conditions/authorisation conditions & working on anuclear licenced sites from a similar role and/or securityregulations/or an equivalent regulated industry. Experience of managing programmes of work within thenuclear industry or equivalent highly regulatedindustry Experience of engaging and influencing senior managementand externalregulators
  • Desirable:
  • Marine Engineering Submarinerbackground - Nuclear Plant Operators or experience of NuclearSubmarine Build & Commissioning Degreeor equivalent in STEMsubject Experience in Audit &Regulation

The Independent Nuclear AssuranceTeam: As an Independent Nuclear Assurance Inspector, you willbe working as part of a group of regulatory inspectors reporting tothe Senior Engineering Manager (Independent Nuclear Assurance). TheIndependent Nuclear Assurance team acts as the internal regulatorfor the Submarines business, forming an evidence-based independentview of the business' nuclear and radiological safety and securityperformance. Through delivery of a comprehensive inspectionprogramme, the team develops the evidence to support its findingsand conclusions and has the opportunity to influence change atevery level of the business including, the safety of our
  • boatdelivery programmes. The team form part of the Nuclear Safety andRegulation Department within the Nuclear Safety and SecurityDirectorate.
