Full Job Description

  • Review the impact of problems, issues and solutions that impact across platforms, systems, assemblies, and units to ensure that there is no unforeseen impact between or across remedial solutions and other systems on the platform or unit
  • Lead, coach and mentor teams, ensure that they understand the systems and protocols associated with the work and task, ensure that their work is reviewed and approved
  • Ensure work of the team meets quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Complete and report status against own and team's workload
  • Analyse problems related to platform and support system issues generate proposed solutions that impact on operation, efficiency and performance improvement
  • Review solutions including all documentation and approved data and either approve solution (where approval is within own limits of authority) or submit and sponsor approval from higher level authority, You will be working with a team that is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, managed collection, storage and delivery of test and production equipment on the Barrow site. As a Principal Engineer, you will research problems and issues, gather information from a range of physical and informational sources, review defects on platform or assembly to gain a complete understanding of the problem and all relevant circumstances. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

    CMI L5/HNC/HND or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Metrology, Calibration, or other related field
  • Experience with apprenticeship standards, developing and coaching new starters
  • Ability to apply depth of expertise relating to engineering systems in order to resolve the most complex challenges, issues and faults associated with installation, commissioning, operation, and performance of systems
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining direct contact and interface with the customer and management and delivery of projects
