Job Title: Principal Engineer – Strategic Weapons Organisation

Location: Barrow-in-Furness – on-site

Salary: Competitive

What you’ll be doing:

  • Engineering support / input to the Task Authorisation Forms & rectification of GFE material
  • Making sure that all US supplied documents are reviewed for impact to the UK platform and distributed to internal Stakeholder for review and comment
  • Where US derived change is identified engage with the Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted
  • Working with the team and other stakeholders providing Engineering SQEP to assist with verification of US & UK requirements
  • Assisting in the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability
  • Encouraging and guiding continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Chartership or working towards
  • Understanding of the role of an SSBN, its mission and how the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) contributes to it
  • Understanding of the operation of the SWS and the platform equipment and services required to allow it to meet availability targets

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the US-supplied product, and how they impact on UK platform design
  • Ability to contribute to the SWS Engineering/integration aspects of documentation reviews, design reviews and decision panels
  • Basic understanding of Life Cycle Management

The Trident Engineering team:

You will be joining an enthusiastic team of 8 members and have an opportunity to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple disciplines. As a part of the Trident Engineering Team, you will be responsible for integration of the Strategic Weapons System and Supporting Systems into the Dreadnought Class Submarine. The role will also provide an opportunity for career progression as well as international travel.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
