Work Pattern - The role requires the successful candidates to work five days over seven, 37 hours per week. Although based in the UK, the successful candidate will provide support to the US so candidates should be mindful of the differing time zone in order to provide this support. We are now recruiting for a Principal Engineer to join our highly skilled and innovative Technology team at HGV. What will I be doing? As a Principal Engineer you will play a key role in leading technical initiatives, providing guidance to the engineering team, and driving the overall technical strategy of the organization. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software solutions, while ensuring the highest level of quality and performance. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, the main job duties will include, but are not limited to;
- Lead technical initiatives and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.
- Design and develop high-quality software solutions, ensuring scalability, robustness, and maintainability.
- Drive the overall technical architecture and strategy, making informed decisions to meet business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to define and prioritize requirements and deliverables.
- Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and promote best practices for software development.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending their adoption where appropriate.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth and efficient project execution.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in technology, bringing new ideas and approaches to the team.
- Plan and execute research for discovery as well as validation phases of conceptualization through usability testing.
- Ability to articulate a design strategy or approach that will impact the user experience across products or platforms and support ideas with sound reasoning and/or data.
- Research and recommend next-gen network technology, products & services.
- Develop standard, procedures and other reference documentation to guide the various technology stakeholders throughout the enterprise.
- Understand business strategy and design technical solutions to facilitate/aid execution of business strategy.

- Proven experience in designing and implementing complex software systems, with a deep understanding of software architecture principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with agile methodologies and the ability to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure automation.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
