Full Job Description

We have a vacancy for an experienced Genetic Counsellor to work at Principal level. This role will be based in the prenatal team at least 50% of the time and lead the operation of the prenatal GC team.
The post holder will be based at Birmingham Women's Hospital and hold clinics in the West Midlands region, in person, virtually and by phone. Clinically the role can include some cancer, rare disease or specialist interest work in addition to prenatal genetics, depending on the interest of the successful applicant.
This post is an integral part of the Genetic Counsellor management team and the post holder will contribute to leading our dedicated and compassionate team of genetic counsellors and nurse specialists in genetics in conjunction with the other Principal and Consultant Genetic Counsellors and Lead Consultant GC., The successful applicant will make a key contribution to the strategic direction of the genetic counselling and clinical service through supported roles in management, education, training, research and service improvement, particularly in the prenatal area.

The successful candidate will be a HCPC AHCS Registered Genetic Counsellor with significant experience of genetic counselling, particularly within rare disease, prenatal and reproductive genetics. Experience of education, leadership and management are advantageous. We support flexible and hybrid working with an expectation that a minimum of 2 days per week will be spent on site at BWH.
