Full Job Description
Are you working in the infrastructure strategy or planning sectors, and seeking a senior role? This is a great time to join Dartford: with a substantial Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund now accrued - in excess of £20 Million - we are starting a new phase of infrastructure planning and delivery. Dartford has adopted a new Local Plan and as the second fastest growing place in the country has acute infrastructure needs. If you have experience of the gathering, monitoring and expenditure of developer contributions, and liaising with service delivery providers in order to plan infrastructure alongside growth, we would be interested to hear from you., We are looking for a CIL/developer contributions-experienced strategic and flexible thinker keen for a challenge in a positive high growth environment. If you have the right skills, you could be at the heart of securing new school, healthcare and transport and other facilities for growing neighbourhoods; multi-million pound infrastructure decisions. We are a friendly and integrated team, with planners, transport and other professionals working together. You will have demonstrable political, quantitative, analytical and written skills, a creative approach to problem solving and good communication. Experience of financial monitoring and knowledge of planning .legislation or policy, or unlocking area development through infrastructure, is required. You will work with and line manage a CIL officer, whilst reporting to and being supported by the Planning Strategy & Infrastructure Manager.
We offer flexible working arrangements, and a policy of up to three days a week homeworking. Part-time working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate, please call if you wish to discuss your circumstances.
Dartford is the Kent Borough adjoining London on the River Thames. Conveniently located, the Borough's connections are more than just the Dartford crossing and M25. Dartford rail station is adjacent to the Council offices, and links to a wide range of stations in London and in Kent via Thameslink and other services. Ebbsfleet International rail station is 17mins to London. We have the award-winning Fastrack bus rapid transit system, and good bus services, including TfL buses serving the Borough. The area is a complex mix of both urban and rural, including Ebbsfleet Garden City and Bluewater shopping centre, but also the River Darent valley, marshland, heath, and Ancient Woodland., Located on the border of Kent, London and Essex, Dartford is one of the most exciting and dynamic regions in the country. It has enviable connections to Central London with the new Elizabeth Line just a 10 minute train ride from Dartford's central station.
According to the most recent census data Dartford has experienced one of the fastest population growths in England in the previous 10 years and is a community that is rapidly diversifying too. The local economy is strong with Dartford being in the top 5% in terms of employment and in the top 20% for GVA per head, workplace earning and job density in the South East (source Caxtons Property Market Report 2022)
At the heart of the Borough's vision, to make Dartford the place of quality and choice by focussing on community, sustainability and a prosperous economy, is a commitment to improving facilities and creating opportunities for existing residents.
Over recent years the Council has invested in a range of cultural and leisure facilities, not least the current programme of redesigning play spaces across the borough. The Council is also working with public and private sector partners to deliver a programme of streetscape and road improvements through Dartford Town Centre. All of this alongside being a council that consistently performs well in terms of service delivery for its residents.
