Are you ready to shape the future of network strategy? We're looking for a dynamic Principal Network Strategist to join BT's Networks Strategy team.

Your mission: to craft a market-leading network strategy that opens up new business opportunities, delights our customers, and delivers value to our shareholders.

You will collaborate across all lines of business and within Networks to support the development of the Group Network Strategy and the Medium Term financial plan for Networks, and any longer term planning. This includes carrying out early engagement for innovation and new technology to identify scope, benefits for strategic initiatives and drive them to conclusion where they become part of the strategic plan or are deprioritised.

What you'll be doing

The role will be held to account for leading the development and execution of strategic network initiatives that support the organisation's long-term goals. You will work closely with senior leadership to identify opportunities for network leadership, optimisation, and innovation.,

  • Identify & Drive strategic initiatives to a conclusion. Developing Strategic options with cost benefit analysis, key dependencies and market context.

  • Lead on and support the development of a long-term network vision

  • Competitor analysis covering Network strategy, technoeconomic benchmarking, network differentiation and network performance.

  • Recommends strategic choices on emerging network technologies

  • This role has a focus on optimising capex investment, and operating costs for future networks and identifying opportunities for growth for BT

  • Drive cross CFU alignment to collect strategic requirements, collaborating closely with key stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships.

  • Identify and engage in 3rd party discussions on technology options relating to future networks

  • Drive strategic positioning on the existing networks and their full life cycle, and also regulatory topics relating to network strategy, with a particular focus on mobile access and core technologies.

    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least 5 years' experience of developing and formulating strategies within a complex organisation or consulting firm.

  • Broad experience of technology & Network strategy development, the key drivers, with a focus on emerging opportunities and infrastructure markets.

  • Experienced in building business cases and financial models, with a solid understanding of financial concepts and business modelling skills.

  • Highly experienced in building simple/moderate spreadsheets/models and executive level documents/presentations.

  • Good and well-rounded strategy skill set e.g. slide writing, storyboarding, developing frameworks and strategic Scenario analysis.

  • Critical thinking and the ability to identify key underlying issues.

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and persuasion skills for relationship building across diverse teams, and different parts of the organisation with sometimes conflicting drivers.

  • Understanding at a high level the breadth of technology across mobile / Fixed Networks or IT technologies. Ideally a "T-shaped" profile with a deep understanding in one or more area that is complementary to the team.


  • NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience of strategic assessment of mergers and acquisitions from a technology point of view.

  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to network strategy team members in areas of strength.

  • Experience of Spectrum valuations and auctions.

  • Experience in formulating Mobile Network, Spectrum and 5G / 6G strategies.
