Full Job Description

This new, Principal Pharmacist post has been created to lead on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) for University Hospitals of Leicester.

You will work very closely with the Cancer Pharmacist team to facilitate the implementation and development of the CAR-T service and link with pharmacy teams across the trust to aid delivery of ATIMPs and other ATMPs in this rapidly expanding area of practice.

This innovative area of therapeutics encompasses gene therapy, somatic cell therapy and the use of tissue engineered products. This complex legal and regulatory picture needs a focussed, driven pharmacist to pull together these different strands, working with stakeholders and clinical teams to help develop models of care for use of ATMPs.

You will provide expert leadership, advice and guidance relating to the safe use of cell, gene, and tissue products, acting as the main point of contact across the Trust to ensure appropriate pharmacy governance and oversight arrangements. The post-holder will represent UHL at a national level and actively participate in the wider strategic agenda for ATMPs.

If you are a prescriber you will have the opportunity to undertake clinics within a specific area and you will contribute to pharmacy service provision within an appropriate pharmacy team.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,

  • being a great place to work,

  • partnerships for impact, and

  • research and education excellence

  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,

  • we are proud,

  • we are inclusive, and

  • we are one team

  • This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
