Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as Principal Pharmacist - Medicines Value across Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a new role created following a successful Cheshire and Merseyside Homecare and High Cost Drugs Invest to Save business case, and will be part of a network of pharmacists working across the ICS to deliver the medicines value agenda. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines across both trusts and the wider health economy. You will work closely with hospital clinical teams, trust stakeholders and external partners to optimise the value of medicines, contributing to improved patient outcomes and financial sustainability.,

  • Lead, develop, manage, monitor, report and promote professional and operational aspects of Medicines Value agenda within both trusts and the wider healthcare economy. Medicines Value in this context means maximising value for money, cost effective prescribing and medicines management.
  • Lead on aspects of policy development in the field of Medicines Value and lead on the implementation and monitoring of medicines-related NICE guidelines across the health economy.
  • Manage, coach, and develop other pharmacy staff across both trusts and wider healthcare system, and deliver education to pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staff related to Medicines Value.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and monitoring of the pharmacy services delivered at both trusts where there is a particular emphasis on Medicines Value.
  • Collaborate with partners in C&M to maximise Medicines Value and seek out new opportunities for collaboration.

    This exciting new role will require the post holder to demonstrate excellent leadership and organisational skills. You will need to be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the healthcare system and have a strong understanding of change management processes. The ability to effectively engage with, influence, and motivate key stakeholders will be essential to the success of this role.
