Full Job Description

The role will oversee the contaminated land and air quality functions of the team providing support to the Environmental Protection Officers for contaminated land and air quality. The successful candidate will lead on the Local Air Quality Management Duties for the Council. The role will work alongside and support the other team Principal Officer for planning consultation responses and use of the case management system. Support and cover will be required for the Environmental Protection Team Manager. The role will require working effectively with internal and external partners including with vulnerable members of the community. The role is varied and challenging but offers the chance to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of the residents of Warrington through environmental interventions.

The position is a relevant degree level role with experience and knowledge of contaminated land and air quality issues, including understanding of relevant legislation, within Environmental Protection. Excellent communication, IT and report writing skills are expected along with evidence of handling sensitive and confidential information., The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

We are looking to recruit a Principal Officer position within the Environmental Protection Team based at our Time Square offices. The team covers a wide variety of roles including air quality, contaminated land, high hedge, noise and public heath related complaints.
