Full Job Description

  • Report directly to and collaborating with the Partners to ensure performance targets are met.

  • Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients' needs.

  • Responsible for all aspects of Wills & Probate work.

  • Supervising a team of one paralegal and one secretary undertaking private client work.

  • Ability to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities.

  • Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney cases including Estate Administration; applying for and obtaining the Grant of Probate; setting up Trusts; advising on Inheritance Tax; Court of Protection matter; Contesting a Will; settling any tax liabilities and affairs.

  • Attending clients, taking instructions, and preparing cases.

  • Dealing with correspondence

  • Maintaining accurate time costing procedures

  • Implementing any recommendation made by the Partners following monthly file reviews, ensuring that these are dealt with promptly.

  • Ensuring compliance with file management

    We have an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Practice on a fulltime basis at Holywell, where you will have a diverse caseload to include, Wills, Probate and Estate Administration and Powers of Attorney.

  • You will be required to work as part of a team and your responsibilities will encompass handling a varied caseload with minimal supervision and support. You will be required to actively contribute to the success of our firm.
    The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a busy environment with a vision for success with the drive to assist others to achieve their potential.,
  • Post-Qualified Experience: 5 years (required). Candidate should have a broad, well-established background in Wills, Probate and Estate Administration as a solicitor or legal executive.

  • Work location:
  • In person, 5 years + PQE

  • Must have a valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying.

  • Committed team player and adapt well to new challenges.

  • Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators.

  • Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with client matters in a sensitive manner, resolve complicated practices, and resolve excellent networking and communications skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.

  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills

  • Ability to use own initiative and sound judgement.

  • Working knowledge of Wills and Probate work and can service privately funded cases.

  • Ability to research and problem solve complicated matters.

  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.

  • Excellent IT skills - familiar with Microsoft Outlook applications and document management skills.

  • We are looking for someone with:
  • Holds a minimum of 5 years PQE in Wills, Probate and Estate Administration specifically.

  • Holds the relevant qualifications (SRA, CILEX, CLC etc)

  • IT literate

  • Can supervise a legal executive and support staff.

  • Contributes to a small practice.

  • Has a high client service ethic.


  • The working week is 4/5 days a week, Monday to Friday (with a day off during the week if agreed). Starting 9:00am until 5:00pm with a 60-minute lunch break.
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Salary: From £30,000.00 a year (for the right candidate, a bonus based on fees earned can be negotiated.) Salary commensurate with experience.
