Full Job Description
Amentum are recruiting Process Engineers at varying levels or expertise to join our Fusion team, which has recently won several important projects and has a host of exciting new opportunities in research, engineering, operations and decommissioning. As one of the newest departments in Amentum, we are regularly involved in delivering on exciting bids and projects with several different fusion clients and as such the ideal candidate needs to be someone with an engineering background, who has a demonstrable track record of contributing to or leading projects effectively. This role will be based in our Harwell or Culham office and there may be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require The Fusion Process Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of fusion projects for multiple customers in the UK and internationally, moreover they will:
- Analyse tender proposals and project specifications in order to develop conceptual and detailed designs of process solutions
- Dependent on experience contribute within or oversee project teams to develop and substantiate process systems in the technical delivery of projects, ranging from glove box sized test rigs to subsystems within existing facilities
- Prepare technically correct, safe, and cost/time effective engineering analysis and solutions for approval.
- Create Process Flow Diagrams
- Understand process modelling and advise on the development of simulations
- Develop P&IDs, including selection of design conditions, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drainage systems
- Perform the sizing, specification and selection of plant, equipment and inline instrumentation for example pressure systems, cryogenic systems, and safety systems
- Ensure that process engineering solutions meet functional, performance and safety requirements including being actively involved in verification and validation activities
Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding with relevant industry experience - Attained or working towards Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate professional institution
- HAZID/HAZOP experience
- Knowledge of Process Design Health, Safety and Environmental (DHSE) issues and knowledge of key regulations (e.g., DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is desirable
- Proactive and driven approach to work, taking ownership of tasks to be completed under their remit
- Competent technical report writing skills: clearly and concisely reporting findings
- Good communication and relationship building skills with a growth mindset
